New House, New Home

In case you haven’t heard, we moved to Coral Springs, FL.  Yep, that’s right.  I loaded up my wife and four kids and two of the largest U-Haul trucks you can rent and moved 850 miles to sunny South Florida.  We traded our nice-sized house with a huge garage and yard for a condo with pool and an extra storage unit rental.  It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it because I’ve found a new church to call home.

I grew up as a preacher’s kid, so I’ve been a member of or served in just about every size church from 80 to 6,000 members.  BUT I’ve never served in a church like Church by the Glades.  It’s crazy, but it’s awesome!  Nowhere else have I ever heard of an Easter service that featured armed terrorists on the stage being defeated by Navy Seals rappelling out of the rafters.  The creative piece just would not have been complete without a huge explosion on stage and our pastor stepping out of an MRAP driven on to the stage.  Many people would just think that kind of stuff is ridiculous and sacrilegious. BUT when 13,000 people show up for Easter services and about 450 get baptized on Easter Sunday, God must be doing something.

We didn’t have quite the same production on our kids’ stage.  The biggest thing I did this weekend on the stage was rip a phone book in half.  But I also presented a clear gospel message to a group of kids that were hungry to hear it, and God did an amazing thing.  My team got to have faith conversations with about four dozen kids and 36 of them made professions of faith during our eight weekend services.  I even got to baptize one of them on the spot!  It was so cool!

One thing is for sure; South Florida is going to be a wild ride.  I’ve been observing and thinking and strategizing.  I’ve got a few plans up my sleeve already.  I can’t wait to see what God’s going to do.  My prayer is that He will BLOW UP our children’s ministry this year at CBGlades!

If you haven’t done it yet, make sure you follow me on twitter @kidminchris.  Also follow @cbgkids, our new kids twitter account.  I’ll be tweeting from there very soon!

And check back in tomorrow as I deliver a book review of The Eric Trap via blog & vlog.

Looks like things are kicking into high gear for you! I am glad things are going well. Hope you all will be happy there.  We miss you guys. When I saw it was Caitlyn’s birthday I was thinking back to when she was born. It was right before Owen. I can’t believe that has been 5 years ago! Anyway, just wanted you to know I was thinking of ya’ll!

Thanks Brandi. We miss you all as well. It’s a ton of fun, but a lot of work too.
